LONGMONT - It's been 10 years, but Don Alspaugh still waits for the stranger to call. He has no idea where she lives. He hopes she's still alive.
The stranger, most likely a woman, holds the answer to a mystery.
On Jan. 14, 1997, the Longmont attorney found two women's rings in the snow while picking up his son from Denver International Airport.
He has never given up on finding the owner. He won't sell them or give them away, even though they're worth about $5,000.
"I don't own them (the rings)," Alspaugh, 64, said. "They are not mine."
Almost every year since he found the rings, Alspaugh places a small classified advertisement in a Denver newspaper in mid-January, in hopes of finding the owner.
